
The first working meeting related to the organization of the Balkan Wrestling Championships 2026 was held today at the office of the Koprivnica Tourist Board. The championship will take place in Koprivnica, Croatia, from October 8 to October 12, 2026.
The meeting was attended by Lana Miletić, Director of the Koprivnica Tourist Board, and Eva Tetec, M.A. Psych., Head of Protocol and Public Relations, while the organizers were represented by Darko Tetec, President of the Organizing Committee and President of Wrestling Club Podravka, and Vedran Blažeković, Club Secretary and Chief Operational Coordinator of the championship.
Discussions focused on key areas of cooperation that will contribute to the successful organization of this major international sporting event. Special emphasis was placed on coordinating accommodation capacities for more than 500 participants from 13 Balkan countries, promoting Koprivnica as a destination, and involving local tourism and hospitality providers in the event program.
The Koprivnica Tourist Board recognizes the championship not only as a sporting event, but also as an important opportunity to promote the city and increase tourism outside the main tourist season. The meeting also covered potential joint promotional activities, preparation of welcome packages for participants, and the organization of additional activities for guests and delegations.
One of the important topics discussed was the opening ceremony, which, in addition to the sporting aspect, is planned to include elements of cultural and tourism promotion of the Podravina region, presenting Koprivnica as a city of sport, culture, and hospitality.
